Pennsylvania Provincial Dower Chest

4 5/32w x 2 3/8h x 2d • Acrylic • $875 • SOLD

Possibly the finest example of dower chests, the original is from Berks County and resides now in the Metropolitan
Museum of Art.The miniature is a faithful reproduction and was created from detailed drawings
of both construction and decoration. It will reside in the miniature museum in Maysvills, KY.

The decorations imagine a courtship. Unicorns in the center are the guardians of fair maidenhood. Turtledoves sing
love songs while the riders on the side panels portray suitors. Surrounding all is a vining motif showing
fucia, tulip, and carnation. Detailed photos available to interested parties.

Constructed in flawless detail by Ed Heeg. Drawer hardware not shown.

Occasionally I will paint a group of furniture in a theme. So far I have made a Rufus Porter group, a Rooster group, and a Pennsylvania Dutch group. Generally I do not construct the furniture, but purchase fine pieces already constructed, though I did construct two pieces shown here from kits.

If you have a furniture piece that you would like me to decorate, let's talk.

Note that images are not actual size and not relative in size to each other. Use the measurements to determine the actual size. All measurements are in inches.
